Gysel Power Divider with Fixed Characteristic Impedance

This paper presents a Gysel power divider with unique characteristic impedance in all the arms. The proposed configuration is based on the equivalence between the Wilkinson and Gysel power divider. Rules are derived to determine the parameters of the new proposed configuration. Those parameters allow the realization of a very simple small structure with a fixed characteristic impedance. An experimental validation of the prototype manufactured around 10 GHz operating frequency was realized. The measured results show a good matching, isolation of 15 dB and power transmission in the fractional bandwidth of 40%. The new circuit maintains the advantage of the high power of the Gysel divider when fixed width microstrip line is used.
